About SYT >> Satyananda Yoga Bala Sangam

Satyananda Yoga Bala Sangam of Satyananda Yoga Centre Mambalam is modeled around the “Bal Yoga Mitra Mandal” movement, started in Munger in 1995 by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati. Its aim is to spread the message of yoga through the children, to the children.

In schools, children predominantly learn and perform activities that activate either the right or the left hemisphere of the brain, whereas yogic education enables them to use both the sides highly effectively. This brings a balance in whatever they do. Through the Satyananda Yoga Bala Sangam, Satyam Yoga Trust aims to provide a full fledged, modern and scientific education system for the children with emphasis on Value Education.

Children will be selected, trained and formed into the following groups.

Yoga training group

This will consist of three layers namely Propagators, Instructors and Demonstrators. This will be a ladder of progress wherein children will have to qualify to reach a particular level.

Yoga learning group

The yoga learning group is complementary to the yoga training group. An important feature is the 'Bal Yoga Parichay Satra (children's introductory yoga course),

Personality development group

In order to ensure all round development of the children, a personality development group will be formed to blend modern education with traditional values. Important associated activities include the karate, chanting, painting, spoken English and kirtan.

Children of Satyananda Yoga Bala Sangam Chennai will also be planning a lot of activities like Teaching Yoga to the underprivileged Children, imparting Yogic education in schools and also do Seva to the society.

Parents teacher group

Some of the parents of these students who also want to strive for the upliftment of children will be imparted basic training and they in turn can counsel and train other parents on proper system and value education through yoga.

Students can also benefit from the various researches done by Bihar Yoga Bharati on the role of yoga in education, which will give them a glimpse of education across various countries in today’s context.

Bal Yoga Mitra Mandal, Munger

Bal Yoga Mitra Mandal is a movement which aims to spread the message of yoga through the children, to the children. It started in 1995, when seven children came to Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati in Munger expressing their desire to learn yoga. Every Sunday they would come to the ashram to practise and learn yoga. The number of children craving for yoga multiplied by the day. Soon many of them were becoming well versed in the practices and techniques as well as in the theory of yoga. In this way, BYMM became a unique movement with its slogan being "Yoga by the children, for the children".

Today this movement has grown to a body of over 1,00,000 children throughout India and is ever increasing. They have conducted yoga training programs in schools all over Bihar and throughout India. Along with yoga, the participants are involved in various other activities to develop the different aspects of their personality: karate (especially for the girls, to make them more assertive); singing, chanting and music (especially for the boys, to make them softer and less arrogant); arts and drama (to develop and express their creativity); and English (to enhance their communication skills). The students of Rikhia numbering 10000 boys have undertaken the mission of training the inmates of prisons in Jharkhand.

The effort of the children of BYMM impressed none other than our former President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. He visited Munger twice even as he was holding the highest office.
